Another great source of entertainment during your vacation are the shows. We’ll split those up into two categories. There’s the live performance shows and the dinner shows. For the most part the live performance shows are for all age groups. The dinner shows are usually more geared towards families. These shows are a great change of pace during your vacation. Before you book your show tickets though, here are some tips for finding coupons for shows as well as some other tips for saving money on your show tickets.

Visitors Center – One of the best places to check for coupons for shows is the Convention and Visitors Bureau. You can usually print these online or if you stop by the welcome center you can usually pick up brochures which will have coupons inside. In many tourist cities you’ll also see a lot of third party visitors centers. It’s worth checking these out too because they offer discounts on shows and attractions if you book through them.

Coupons Books – These are usually very popular in tourist areas. You’ll find them in gas stations, grocery stores, and local Walmart stores. If there are not any coupon books available you can also check to see if the Entertainment Book publishes a coupon book for your City. They are one of the largest publishers of coupons books. You pay a small price for a huge book of coupons for entertainment, shopping, dining, lodging, and more.

Combo Discounts – Look for combo discounts. Often the show will partner up with other local attractions to offer a discount if you purchase your tickets for the show and attraction together. In particular look for packages with theme parks and tour companies. These are the two most common partnerships.

Local Discounts – A lot of the show operators offer discounts for locals. And it’s not just for the immediate city of the show’s location. Local discounts are usually extended for the entire county and even neighboring cities. If you are not sure you can always check to see if you qualify for a locals discounts.

AAA Discounts – If you are a AAA member, check to see if there are any discounts offered for AAA members. You’ll either get a discount at the ticket window when you show your AAA card or you will need to purchase your tickets through AAA in order to get the discount on your show tickets.

State Employee Discounts – In a lot of cities, show operators will offer an additional discount if you are a state employee. This is usually a hidden discount so you may need to call the ticket office or check with your employer. You usually have to just present your state employee ID (school or municipal ID) to get the discount.

Military Discounts – You can often get discount tickets to a show if you are a member of the military. Some will offer you the discount at the ticket window when you show your military ID, but most discounts are only available if you purchase your show tickets through your local military base.

Online Discounts – This may seem as a no brainer, but it’s often overlooked. A lot of the shows will offer discounts if you book online directly with them. Always check to see what the tickets costs for the show are online. They may end up being the best deal.

Vacation Packages – Check with the local hotels. Many of them offer free tickets or coupons for discount tickets to the show when you book your vacation through them. Typically they require at least a 2 night minimum stay.
