Aquariums have awed and amazed visitors for years. It’s simply amazing when you think about it. How they can maintain those huge marine and freshwater ecosystems. Today, aquariums have evolved to offer even more. Now you’ll find educational shows, 3D and 4D movie theaters, behind the scenes tours, whale watching and conservation programs, and even amusement park rides. Planning a trip to an aquarium? Here are a few tips for finding discounts and coupons for aquariums that may be able to save you a little extra money.
Discount Cards – Look for discount cards like the CityPass. You can save 50% or more on your admission to the top attractions in the city. It’s a great way to see the city for less. Another popular one is the Go Card.
Coupon Books – Look to see if there is a coupon book, like the Entertainment Book, offered in your area. For these you pay a small price up front to get literally $1000s worth of coupons and discounts to area attractions, dining, shopping, and travel.
Ticket Discounters – Purchase your tickets ahead of time through ticket discounters like Trusted Tours & Attractions. You can save as much as 25% on admission plus you skip the lines at the ticket window since the tickets are mailed right to you!
Visitors Center – Check out the local convention and visitors bureau. You can often print out aquarium coupons directly from the visitors bureaus’ site. These coupons are usually pretty good.
Combo Tickets – Check with the other attractions in the city. Often times they partner up with the local aquarium to offer discount combo tickets to multiple attractions. This is a great way to see the city for less.
Discount Days – Be sure to check the calendar for any discount admission days. A lot of aquariums offer some sort of locals discount or even free admission. Only downside is that it’s usually crowded. Arrive late though and the crowds are usually a bit thinner.
AAA Discounts – If you are a AAA member, check to see if the aquarium offers a AAA discount. Not all aquariums offer a AAA discount but the ones that do usually give you at least 10-15% off your admission. Some even offer you a discount on annual memberships.
Association of Zoos & Aquariums – If are a member of the aquarium or are a member of another aquarium (strongly recommended if you love aquariums) be sure you take advantage of the Aquarium Reciprocal Admissions Program. For aquariums (and zoos) that participate you can save 50% or more on admission if you have a membership to any member aquarium (or zoo).
Student Discounts – If you are a student, always find out if the aquarium offers any discounts for students. A good majority of the aquariums offer some sort of discount option or free admission days for students.
Vacation Packages – Check with the local hotels. Many of them offer free admission or aquarium coupons for discount admission with your stay. Typically they require at least a 2 night minimum stay. Some of the hotels known to offer these vacation packages include the Hyatt, Wingate, Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, and Comfort Inn. You can also check with the local Chamber of Commerce. They will often list these vacation packages on their website.
